IN THE BEGINNING WAS THE WORD
and the word hda a typo

When I think about the difficulty of translating ancient languages into 
modern English it seems no surprise that there are so many subtly 
different interpretations available.  Now consider adding to that 
confustion the skills, or lack thereof, of the rperson who actually 
compied down the words, lined up the wooden type, or sat at a computer 
typing them.  The posiblilities are frightening!  Here are some famous 
Bibles which contained "typos."

THE CAMLES BIBLE (1823) Gen. 24:61 reads "And Rebekah arose and her 
camels." [for damsels]

THE DENIAL BIBLE (1792) In Luke 22:34 the name Philip is substituted for 
Peter as the apostle who would deny Jesus.

THE EARS TO EAR BIBLE (1810) Matt 13:43 reads: "Who hath ears to ear, let 
him hear."

THE FOOL BIBLE. Psalm 14:1 reads: "the fool hath said in his heart there 
is a God" [instead of no God].  The printers wher fined 3,000 pounds and 
all copies were supressed.

THE WICKED BIBLE (1653). This contains: "know ye not that the unrighteous 
shal inherit the Kingdom of god," instead of "shall not inherit."  Also in 
Rom. 6:13, "neither yield ye your members as instruments of righteousness" 
insteae of "unrightousness."

THE IDLE BIBLE (1809).  "The idol shepherd"  (Zech. 11:17) is printed "the 
idle shepherd."

THE JUDAS BIBLE (1611).  Matthew 26:36 reads "Judas" instead of "Jesus".

THE "LARGE FAMILY" BIBLE (1820).  Isaiah 66:9 reads "Shall I bring to 
birht and not cease to bring forth?"  [for cause to bring forth].

THE "SIN ON" BIBLE (1716).  John 5:14 reads: "Go and sin on more" instead 
of "sin no more."

THE PLACEMAKERS BIBLE (1562).  Mathew 5:9 reads "Blessed are the 
placemakeres [for peacemakers]: for they shall be called the children of 
God." Still, this is better than the Monty Python version, "Blessed are 
the Cheese Makers" from LIFE OF BRIAN.

  And finally
THE PRINTERS' BIBLE (1702) which makes David complain that "printers 
[princes] have persecuted me without cause."  He was probably plagued with 
typos--too bad there was no spell-check.
