Once upon a time, I saw a bit about Lemming: The Gathering, and I figured I could improve on the idea.

New terms.

Landscape: kind of like a land. May not be affected by non Lemmings card unless controller wishes it to be. You may lay out a landscape any time there are no other Landscapes you control in play that have no Lemmings enchantments on them. A landscape may or may not have a casting cost. For each landscape beyond the first layed out in one turn, use two extra colorless mana.

Skill: a special type of spell. May not be countered with ordinary MtG cards, but may not be cast unless you have a Lemming in play.

Here are the cards I have thought up.

Lemming

1/1 Trample

2 colorless mana to cast

(Picture: A Lemming (of course!))

Summon Lemming.

Lemming must attack if able to attack.

Bands with other Lemmings. May not combine in any group with non-Lemmings.

Lemming Entrance

3 colorless mana

Enchantment

During upkeep, put 1 Lemming token into play. You may spend x mana to introduce x more Lemming tokens into play. Lemming entrance may not be harmed by player that does not control it. Lemming tokens are identical in every respect to Lemming cards.

Lemming Trap

Landscape

All opposing Lemmings that attack this turn are destroyed before dealing damage.

Cliff

Landscape

Lemmings without a floater enchantment on them are killed after they attack, but before they deal damage.

Pit

2 colorless

Landscape

All opposing Lemmings that attack this turn are destroyed before they deal damage.

Lava

4 colorless

Landscape

All opposing Lemmings that attack this turn are destroyed before they deal damage.

Anti-Lemming Wall.

1 colorless.

Suummon Wall.

0/5

May block any number of Lemmings, but may only block Lemmings. Does not take damage from Lemmings it blocks.

Steel Wall.

3 colorless.

Summon Wall.

0/8

Can block only Lemmings, but may block any number of them. Does not take damage from Lemmings it blocks. Cannot be removed from play by a Basher. Cannot be affected by ordinary MtG cards.

Climber

1 colorless

Enchant Lemming.

Target Lemming may not be blocked by walls.

Floater

1 colorless

Enchant Lemming

Target Lemming is not affected by cliffs.

Blocker

Skill

1 colorless.

When cast, tap a Lemming that you control. This lemming does not untap for ANY reason as long as Blocker is in play. While BLocker is in play, no Lemmings may attack. If tapped Lemming leaves play, so does Blocker.

Bomber

Skill

1 colorless.

Sacrifice one Lemming you control and Bomber card to do one of the following effects.

  • Destroy one Bridge. You need not controll the bridge.
  • Place a -0/-2 counter on target wall.
  • Place a -0/-2 counter on target creaure blocking Lemming you sacrificed.
  • Do two extra points of damage to opponent if Lemming you sacrificed attacked and was not blocked.
  • Take two skills from graveyard and return them to your hand.

Builder

Skill.

1 colorless mana

Place Builder on target Landscape when cast.

Placing a Builder on a Lemming Trap negates it's ability to destroy Lemmings.

Placing two Builders on Pit negates it's ability to destroy Lemmings

Placng three Builders on Lava changes it into a Cliff. It should be treated as having an unaffected CLiff in play (controller of said Lava may not lay down another Landscape while all three Builders are on Lava)

You may not cast more builders on a single turn than you have Lemmings.

Basher

SKill.

1 colorless

Basher may be cast on either target Lemming you controll, or on target Wall. If cast on a Wall, removes target Wall's ability to block Lemmings unless target wall was Steel Wall. Treat tis as if the Wall was never declared to Block, except that the attacker may not redeclare the block. If cast on a Lemming, it gives target Lemming and all Lemmings it bands with Forestwalk for this turn. However, Anti Lemming Wall and Steel Wall may still block Lemmings with Forestwalk.

Miner

Skill

1 colorless

Gives target Lemming and all Lemmings banded with it Mountainwalk until end of turn. Does not prevent Anti-Lemming Wall or Steel Wall from blocking Lemmings. If target Lemming has Forestwalk, it also gains Swampwalk.

Digger

Skill

1 colorless mana

Gives target Lemming and all Lemmings banded with it Plainswalk until end of turn. Anti-Lemming Wall and Steel Wall may still block Lemmings given Plainswalk with this card. If target Lemming also has Basher, it and all Lemmings banded with it also gain Islandwalk.

Pause

Enchantment

x casting cost

prevents all Lemmings from attacking for x turns. Also prevents Lemmings cards from being played for x-1 turns. After x turns, discard Pause.

Nuke

Enchantment

2 colorless

4: destroy all other Lemmings cards in play.

Steel

Instant

1 colorless.

Prevents use of Miners, Diggers, and Bashers until end of turn. Also removes all Diggers, Bashers, and Miners targeted at Lemmings from play. MAY be countered with ordinary MtG cards.

Lemming Exit

Enchantment

x colorless

While Lemming Exit is in play, all of opponents Lemmings that are not blocked are removed from play before they deal damage. For each Lemming thus removed, put an "in" counter on Lemming Exit. When 5*x counters are placed on Lemming Exit, you lose game. May only be removed from play by a Nuke enchantment under your oponent's control.

X: remove x/2 counters from Lemming Exit.

What do you think? Do I have WAYYYY to much free time on my hands?

Mana amounts are not set in stone..
